In fairy folklore, ancient trees act as portals between the human world and the realm of the Fae. The woven roots and canopy symbolize deep grounding, protection, and the unseen magical networks beneath the forest floor.
FAIRY TREE handcrafted Glass Tree of Life
My creative process begins by wrapping an 8-inch ring in warm beige macrame cord. Suspended inside this frame, I fashion a rich brown tree whose trunk gracefully anchors sweeping macrame branches, establishing the structural foundation for the glass and charms. I use salvaged glass sourced from discarded bottles, selecting pieces in rich emerald, soft teal, and frosted seafoam. After tumbling the glass to achieve a soft, frosted finish, each piece is individually drilled in my studio. I then hand-tie every fragment to the branches, securing it with a gold bead. Finally, I accent the foliage with subtle, bronze-toned charms—including delicate owls, perching birds, and fairy crescent moons. When the sunlight catches the glass, these hidden details come alive, evoking the magic of an enchanted, hidden world.
