This handmade Tree of Life captures the lively essence of a fruit-laden tree in full bloom. Nestled in the branches, cardinals symbolize lasting love, loyalty, and family devotion.
I begin by covering a 10-inch wire with warm beige macrame cord. Suspended inside the ring I have created a rich brown tree that trunk gracefully anchors sweeping macrame branches. This creates the structure to attach the glass and charms. The glass I use came from discarded green bottles. I tumble and drill the glass right in my studio. Light shines through the rich green glass leaves, illuminating the delicate pink flowers, glossy red fruit, and Cardinals perched within. Each piece is individually hand-tied securing it with a green glass bead. Below the main ring, a fan-shaped array of roots flows downwards into a graceful fringe accented with earthy turquoise and green beads, giving the piece a grounded, organic feel.
